Ex Super Eagles Player Appointed Commissioner In Abia State
- Ex Super Eagles player Karibe Ojigwe has been appointed as commissioner for sports in Abia state
- He had 17 appearances for the super eagles, scoring 2 goals
Ekohotblog reports that former super eagles player, Karibe Ojigwe has been appointed as the commissioner for sport in Abia state.
Ojigwe was a member of the Golden Eaglets that won the 1993 U-17 World Cup in Japan. He also made 17 appearances for the Super Eagles team, scoring 2 goals.

Governor of the state Okezie Ikpeazu swore Ojigwe in as the new commissioner for sports in his state in a ceremony which had other 26 commissioners.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ikpeazu said the new commissioners were selected to support and better the lives of Abia state residents.
He also urged them to see the appointment as a call of duty while warning that anyone thinking of taking advantage of the position for personal benefit would be “disappointed”.
Born on December 11, 1976, Ojigwe began his footballing career with Enyimba in 1993 and was impressive for the People’s Elephants before his move to Europe. In 1995, he moved to Germany where he joined FC Kaiserslautern before moving to Koln FC on loan in the 1999/2000 season. After a turn of form with the Bundesliga 2 side, Ojigwe refused to return to his parent club and instead moved to Champions League participant Bayer 04 Leverkusen for a transfer fee of about €1.75 million
At Leverkusen, he was part of the squad who narrowly lost the 2001/2002 UEFA Champions League final to Real Madrid in Glasgow.
