Eko Hot Blog reports that the Former President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, has been released following his arraignment on criminal charges.
The charges are related to the former president’s handling of classified documents.
At the arraignment on Tuesday, the US Justice Department recommended that Trump and his co-defendant and aide, Walt Nauta, be released without any condition as they were not considered a flight risk.
“The government does not view either defendant as a flight risk,” prosecutor David Harbach told the presiding judge in Miami, Florida, on Tuesday.
Earlier, Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 criminal charges during a historic arraignment in a Miami federal courthouse after being indicted over his handling of classified documents at his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort.
Trump, who is the first former US president to face federal charges, was arrested and booked alongside aide and co-defendant, Nauta, who did not enter a plea deal.
The judge ruled that Trump could not communicate with Nauta about the case.
This indictment comes just months after Trump was charged by a Manhattan grand jury in a separate hush-money case.
