Eko Hot Blog reports that Hon. Wale Raji, the Member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has facilitated the construction of 86 free shops at the Mojoda Market in Eredo LCDA, Epe Division, Lagos State.
The free shops were commissioned by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, at an event on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, Hon. Raji described the delivery of the market shops as promise made and promise kept, while promising to do more for traders across Epe Federal Constituency.
According to the lawmaker, market traders are the backbone of the informal sector which is crucial to the economic development of Epe, Lagos State, and Nigeria.
He reiterated his commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of traders in Epe Division, while stressing their importance to the economy.
Raji, who singled out the support of market men and women for his successful reelection in February, vowed not to betray their trust.
“I want to appreciate the people of Epe federal constituency for the confidence they have in me and our great party APC during the 2023 general election. It is a privilege I hold in high esteem and will continue to spur me to do more as their elected representative,” he said.
“Your decision to return me to the national assembly is what has given me the opportunity to follow up and complete the numerous projects we started in the 9th assembly which is what we are here today to celebrate.
“I am also glad and want to tell you that more projects are being executed and many are in the pipeline this project were conceived to enhance the development of our community.”
The lawmaker, who also delivered the Iraye Primary Healthcare Centre and the 1km Shiwola road in Odosiwola for commissioning on Thursday, promised to continue to pursue developmental projects in Epe.
Meanwhile, the Mojoda Market is not the first market in Epe Federal Constituency to enjoy the intervention of Hon. Raji.
In February 2022, the lawmaker inaugurated 120 shops, which he facilitated, at the Itoikin Market, Epe, and handed them over for free to traders.
“The shops are given for free to traders in order to boost the socioeconomic activities of the community,” he said at the time.
Similarly, the lawmaker has facilitated the construction of the first phase of the Ayetoro Modern Market with 200 shops.
Hon. Raji, who said more projects are in the pipeline to modernise markets in Epe Federal Constituency, noted that the delivery of more than 80 shops at the Mojoda Market reflects his commitment to taking development to the people.
