Recalling his journey, Omoboriowo emphasized his dedication to honing his craft. Despite holding a degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry, he independently learned Photoshop upon returning to the University of Lagos after his service year. His global recognition began when BellaNaija showcased his work.
The celebrated cinematographer’s breakthrough came when a call from the United Kingdom offered him a photography role. This stroke of luck became a turning point in Omoboriowo’s career, allowing him to make a significant impact in the field.
“In January 2015, I was called. Buhari needed a photographer, and I was the one that fit in. I don’t know anybody or his associate. In fact, the only time I entered Aso Villa was when I was an awardee,” Omoboriowo recalled. He expressed gratitude to Debola Williams for providing a platform that gave him leverage during Buhari’s electioneering.
Omoboriowo’s journey from a passionate photographer with no political connections to becoming Buhari’s official photographer in 2015, with a subsequent reappointment in 2019, serves as an inspiring testament to the power of talent, dedication, and opportunity.
