Fact Check: Has Ooni Taken Princess Ashley Adegoke As New Wife?

There has been a rumor that the Ooni of Ife has taken Princess Ashley Adegoke as new wife.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that following reports that Queen Silekunola Naomi announced her separation from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, there has been rumour that the foremost monarch has taken an Ile Ife Princess, Ashley Adegoke as new wife.

Recall that Queen Naomi while announcing the end of her three-year-old marriage to the Ooni on Thursday confirmed that he had taken another wife.

She wrote: “Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue,” she said.

Ever since the confirmation made by Queen Naomi that the Ooni has taken a new wife, many have begun to spread the rumour that the Ooni has taken Princess Ashley as new wife.

Ashley, an entrepreneur who runs a non-profit organization, Ashley Adegoke Foundation was based in London before relocating to Ile Ife, Osun State.

It was gathered that Princess Ashley isn’t a new entrant at the palace as she has been an old-time friend of the monarch.

The single mother further fueled the marriage rumour as she penned a tribute to Ooni on the sixth year anniversary of his father’s throne.

She wrote, “Six years has flown by so quickly, I see and pray for many more years to come on the throne of your forefathers Omo Ajinaja Ogun. Akande Mii Ajiwe Fun’Osha, Okirikiribiti, Dagunduro Oko ODU… Iti Omo Irumole, Ekun ton fin tori tori, Ekun ton fin tiru tiru, Adigimala awo funfun, while others search for what they can take, you have taken the weight of the world on your shoulders and always search for what you can give back. Your ascension on the throne has changed a lot of lives not only in Ile-Ife but the entire black race. A true King’s power is his compassion which you show effortlessly.

“We acknowledge the good that we have in Yoruba land which is you my crown jewel and for us, it is the foundation for all abundance. Ade a pe lori yin, Ase a pe lenu yin, thank you for all you do for humanity. To many more years on the throne of your forefathers, in good health and in abundance of wealth. I remain Aya Oba, ODU Aya Orunmila, Aya Oosha, Aya Olofin Adimula, Omo Oba.”

However, efforts by EKO HOT BLOG reporter to speak with the Ooni’s spokesman, Comrade Moses Olafare proved abortive as he didn’t respond to calls.

Meanwhile, sources close to the palace told our correspondent that the Monarch has not taken Ashley as new wife and would communicate soon to the public of his next move.
