Fake Certificate: FG Lists Other Countries Banned From Accreditation And Evaluation
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of Education in Nigeria, Tahir Mamman, has listed some other countries that will be affected by the decision of the federal government to suspend accreditation and evaluation of results from such countries.
Speaking on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television, Mamman said the hammer of the federal government won’t be limited to results from Benin Republic and Togo alone.
According to him, the sanction of the federal government will be extended to results from countries like Uganda, Kenya and Niger Republic.
“We are not going to stop at just Benin and Togo,” the Education Minister said.
“We are going to extend the dragnet to countries like Uganda, Kenya, even Niger here where such institutions have been set up,” he added.
Recall that the Federal government had on Tuesday suspended Accreditation and evaluation of results from Togo and Benin Republic following an investigative report by a Daily Nigeria reporter,Umar Audu, detailing how Nigerians obtain fake degree certificates from universities in the above mentioned countries.
The government in the statement, lamented that “some Nigerians deploy nefarious means and unconscionable methods to get a Degree with the end objective of getting graduate job opportunities for which they are not qualified.”
The statement added that the suspension would remain in place pending the outcome of an investigation involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education of Nigeria and the two countries, as well as the Department of State Security Services (DSS), and the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).
