Police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Nnayereugo was returned to Nigeria early Saturday morning. He had been wanted for the murder of 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a top student at Lead City University, Ibadan. She was killed at his house in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023.
After the crime, Nnayereugo fled the country and later posted a video online pretending to confess. This, police say, was meant to distract investigators.
The victim’s family sent a petition to the police on September 29, 2024. INTERPOL began an investigation and declared him wanted. A global arrest notice (Red Notice) was issued in October 2023.
Nnayereugo was first arrested in Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, using a fake name “Kanu Princeton Samuel.” But he escaped during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

He continued running from the law using fake identities across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East. He finally settled in Doha, Qatar, on January 24, 2025, using another fake name, “Toure Abdoulaye,” with a false Guinean passport.
INTERPOL used advanced technology and cooperation with Qatar to confirm his identity. He was arrested in February 2025 and later extradited after the Nigerian government made a formal request.
