Eko Hot Blog reports that the Sokoto State Governor, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, has debunked reports that he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A viral letter circulating online earlier on Thursday states that the Sokoto deputy governor allegedly wrote to his ward chairperson that he has resigned from the PDP.
“I write to notify you of the withdrawal of my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from 8th February 2023. I appreciate the opportunities given to me, which made me serve in various capacities under the PDP,” the purported letter reads.
However, Iya, through his Director of Press, Aminu Abubakar, has dissociated himself from the letter.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, Abubakar said his principal is still a loyal member of the PDP.
“Our attention has been drawn to a letter purportedly issued in Sokoto that the Sokoto State Deputy Governor Hon. Manir Dan’iya stating (sic) had resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the statement reads.
“This is untrue and a blatant lie. Hon. Manir Dan’iya is still a bonafose (sic) member of the PDP, to which he reaffirm his unwavering loyalty and support.
“He is hereby dissociating himself from any such letter stating that he had
left the PDP.”
