Reflecting on his personal experiences, Falana shared the high hopes his generation once held for Nigeria, given its rich resources and potential for global prominence.
However, he acknowledged that these aspirations have been repeatedly dashed by subsequent leadership failures.
In his speech, Falana highlighted the urgent need for a new wave of young leaders who are committed to reviving the nation and redefining its path towards prosperity.
He said, “You will have to challenge those who are in power when you have access to them, because some of them in power today belong to our generation.
“We didn’t suffer what you are going through. We lived a life of dignity.
“My generation had genuine dreams about this country becoming one of the best in the world. But what has happened? Your generation has a duty to reclaim the country,” he declared.
Falana urged Nigerian youths to seek inspiration in the works of renowned African musicians. Known for their messages of hope, courage, and resistance, Falana believes the lyrics of these artists can ignite a spark in the younger generation to lead change and redefine their nation’s future.
Conference Convener Olusegun Odufuwa emphasized the significance of the RISE theme, stating that it serves as a call to action for Nigerian youths to actively take ownership of their future.
