Faleke Apologizes To APC Over Kafayat Layeni Certificate Forgery Saga

  • Layeni had presented a 1979 WASSCE certificate, that was ultimately discovered to have been forged.

James Abiodun Faleke, Member Representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, has apologized to the All Progressives Congress over the certificate forgery scandal, involving Alhaji Layeni Olufunmilayo Kafayat, a candidate in the APC primary for Ojodu LCDA chairmanship election.

In a bid to join the fray for the Local Government Election Primaries in Lagos held a fortnight ago, Layeni had presented a 1979 WASSCE certificate, that was ultimately discovered to have been forged.

According to the certificate which was presented, Layeni made C6 in English Language, C5 in Government, C4 in Economics, C4 in Mathematics, D7 in Biology, C5 in Commerce, and C3 in Accounting.

However, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), when contacted, refuted the veracity of the certificate, which led to her disqualification.

The ruling party was left with no option but to disown the candidate, as well as her actions.

Faleke, who had thrown his weight behind Layeni, a party loyalist for many years, said he was confounded by the revelation.

The Lawmaker went further to apologize to the party’s leadership, stakeholders and members for backing what turned out to be the wrong horse.
