Eko Hot Blog reports that the Awofodu family, on Friday, gathered to commemorate the final burial outing and Thanksgiving ceremony of their beloved matriarch, Mama Mary Olusola Awofodu, at the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ekotedo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The event commenced with a solemn church service and a heartfelt Thanksgiving.
Mr. Kehinde Awofodu, the son of the late Mama, emotionally recounted her life’s journey and achievements, his voice filled with sorrow and love.
The priest then delivered a poignant sermon, reminding all present of the inevitability of death and the importance of cherishing every moment.
As part of the ceremony, the children of late Mama Awofodu expressed their gratitude through Thanksgiving, accompanied by soul-stirring hymns from the choir.
Dr. Peter Awofodu, one of her children, shared during an interview how their mother was a kindhearted woman who dedicated herself to ensuring her children had the best upbringing and opportunities in life.
Despite facing challenges in her own childhood, she was steadfast in her determination to see her children succeed, and they have indeed achieved remarkable milestones in various fields.
Moving to the reception held at the Ibadan Recreational Club field, Labi Obey, the son of the legendary Nigerian musician Commander Ebenezer Obey, electrified the atmosphere with his captivating music.
The space was filled with joy as friends and family gathered to celebrate the life of Mama Mary Olusola Awofodu. The children of the late matriarch were invited to the dance floor, where they were embraced by friends and danced in her honor.
It was a celebration of a life well-lived, a testament to the remarkable legacy left behind by Mama Mary Olusola Awofodu.
The event served as a reminder of the impact she had on her family and the community, leaving behind cherished memories and values that will be passed on through generations.
