Family Of Late Jan. 6 Police Officer Refuse To Shake Hands With GOP’s McConnell, McCarthy

The family of a deceased Capitol police officer refused to shake hands with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., during a ceremony Tuesday honoring U.S. Capitol Police and D.C. Metropolitan Police.

Eko Hot Blog reports that among the attendees were family members of Brian Sicknick, a U.S. Capitol Police officer who suffered  strokes the day after the Jan. 6 insurrection.

During the ceremony, Sicknick’s two brothers and parents approached Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and shook his hand. They continued down the line of lawmakers standing in front of the podium, bypassing McConnell and McCarthy. The Sicknicks kept walking, declining to shake hands with the GOP leaders.

“They’re just two-faced,” Gladys Sicknick, Brian’s mother said “I’m just tired of them standing there and saying how wonderful the Capitol police is and then they turn around and go down to Mar-a-Lago and kiss his (former President Donald Trump) ring and come back.”
