EKO HOT BLOG reports that Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized supporters of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Lagos State ahead of the March 11 gubernatorial election.
Fani-Kayode took to his Twitter account on Thursday to express his views, stating that Obidients in Lagos are delusional and excessively proud, which will lead to their downfall in the forthcoming election.
Fani-Kayode likened the supporters of the LP candidate to the character in Greek mythology called Icarus, who flew too close to the sun, causing his wings to melt. He noted that the excessive pride and hubris of the Obidients will ultimately lead to their defeat in the gubernatorial election.
The former Minister of Aviation accused the Obidients in Lagos of being motor park touts, with no real understanding of the political landscape in Lagos State. He further claimed that their ignorance and lack of political savvy would lead to their downfall in the election.
Fani-Kayode’s criticism of the Obidients in Lagos comes amid increasing tension and political maneuvering ahead of the March 11 gubernatorial election in Lagos State. The election promises to be a closely contested affair, with several political parties jostling for supremacy in the state.
The Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi, has been campaigning vigorously in Lagos State, seeking to rally support from voters ahead of the election. However, Fani-Kayode’s comments suggest that the LP candidate may face an uphill battle in Lagos State, particularly among the APC supporters.
With just a few weeks to go until the election, the political temperature in Lagos State is rising, with candidates and supporters engaging in intense campaigns and political rhetoric. As the race heats up, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the closely contested election.
He wrote: “Obidients in Lagos are not only delusional but they also suffer from hubristic pride which will lead to their nemesis in the gubernatorial election on March 11. They remind me of a figure in Greek mythology called Icarus whose wings melted because he flew too close to the sun.”
