The Leader of Independent People Of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has rolled out new warning to the Nigerian government.
According Nnamdi Kanu, the call for the restoration of Biafra is still very much active and the need for a referendum has become more necessary than ever before.
Biafra is a secessionist group, agitating for the indepedence of the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. The call for secession dates back to the 1960s during the period of Ojukwu, which led to a civil war. This call has however been resuscitated by Nnamdi Kanu.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, The Leader of the Biafran nation vows that if a referendum is not granted, there may be need to consider other options in order to restore Biafra.
In the words of Nnamdi Kanu himself, “Our demand for a #referendum is now drawing closer to the point of moving on to urgent considerations of other options to restore #Biafra. Our people are ready. We’ve the means & wherewithal. What remains is the hour – the hour of reclaiming our manifest destiny, unilaterally.”
This is coming amidst the news of military bombardment of Orlu in a bid to dislodge members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) who were reportedly using the town as a base.
Femi-Fani Kayode has also implored the Federal Government to listen to the yearnings of Nnamdi Kanu and “de-proscribe” IPOB in order to avoid a second civil war in the country.
He said this while also reminding the Federal Government that the IPOB Leader does not make empty threats.
