The abduction took place on January 2, when gunmen broke into their home in Zuma 1, Bwari, demanding a N60 million ransom for the release of the daughters.

Al-Kadriyar, speaking with Arise TV, described the harrowing night when armed robbers invaded their newly occupied apartment.

The situation escalated when the father’s brother, accompanied by the police, engaged in a gunfight with the bandits, resulting in the tragic death of the eldest sister.

“It was on January 2. I think I came in around 7 pm from town and I moved in immediately to observe my Maghrib prayer. I came out after and sat down at the sitting room to relax.”

The bandits, after releasing the father, demanded a hefty ransom for the daughters’ freedom, leading to an eight-hour trek through the bush.

During this journey, the desperate pleas of the children and the father’s attempts to negotiate unfolded.

“We got to a bush where they asked us to sleep for about 30 minutes. My children, those with wrappers covered me with their wrappers. After 30 to 40 minutes, they told us to get up and we started the final lap.”
