Assistant Director, Information, Health Services and Environment, FCT, Badaru Salisu Yakasai, who disclosed this in a statement, said the office’s attention was drawn to the incident through a video footage circulating online.

According to the information, the victim was brought to the facility at about 8:35 p. m. on September 26, but allegedly died of negligence and failure of the medical team at the said hospital to attend to her.

Yakasai, in the statement, said upon receiving news of the woman’s death, the Secretariat and Mandate Secretary, commiserated and extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.

It added that Fasawe immediately visited the hospital at about 1:00 a.m. on Friday, after calling the Medical Director of the facility, Dr Imuentinyan Igbinovia, and requested for an immediate meeting at the hospital.

It was gathered that Dr Igbinovia provided a verbal report of what transpired to the mandate secretary, indicating that the victim was brought in dead.

“In the circumstances, and for clarity, the secretary requested an autopsy and preparation for a Coroner’s Inquest to ascertain both the cause and circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

“The secretary has been in active and constant communication with relevant parties, including the family, police, Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and others, with a view to ensuring that the case is properly investigated.
