Omoyele Sowore, a prominent leader of the #FearlessInOctober protest, has articulated the key demands of the protesters during a demonstration in Lagos on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Sowore called on the federal government to release all individuals detained during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, as well as those from the #EndSARS protests in 2020.
Sowore emphasized the urgency of their demands, insisting that the detainees should be freed before the end of the day.
“We are asking the Federal Government to release every detained protester, whether in Kaduna, Abuja, Katsina, or Kano. The Federal Government should release them today,” he stated.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that he warned that if their demands are not met by the close of business on Tuesday, the protesters will announce their next course of action.
“If by the end of today the FG does not release the EndBadGovernance protesters and those from the EndSARS protests… we will tell you the next line of action,” he declared.
In addition to the immediate release of detainees, Sowore expressed that the protesters are fighting for a new kind of independence.
He explained that while the independence gained in 1960 freed Nigeria from colonial rule, the current struggle is aimed at liberating citizens from the corrupt ruling class that has perpetuated hardship.
“Those who have made life miserable for our people deliberately—the looters and the corrupt cabals, whether in the oil sector or any other sector—they must be held accountable.
Our independence starts now,” Sowore said. He elaborated that this movement is a continuation of the fight that began in 2019 with the Revolution Now campaign, asserting that only a revolution can rescue Nigeria from its current plight.
The #FearlessInOctober protest reflects the ongoing discontent among citizens who seek accountability and justice from their leaders, signaling a renewed call for change in the country.
