FEC Approves Move To Repeal Geneva Convention

The Federal Executive Council FEC has approved the move by the Justice department to repeal the Geneva Convention in the bid to adjust the rights of prisoners of war.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, disclosed this briefly after the FEC meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

Malami stressed that repealing the Geneva Convention would afford Nigeria “accord greater access to justice by prisoners of war.”

He noted tha it appears that Nigeria was lagging behind the rest of the world in terms of according prisoners of war certain rights and privileges.
