Nigeria’s Federal Government has deported several foreign nationals including seven Sri-Lankans convicted for various criminal and immigration offences.
Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Sunday James, has disclosed this in a statement made available on Friday in Abuja, Nigeria’s Punch News reported.

“Seven Sri-Lankans that were jailed for petroleum product-related offences after serving their jail terms were ordered by the court to be deported to their country as well,” the official has said.
James said the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbeshola, had signed the deportation order in pursuant to section 45, subsection 2, section 46, subsection 1 and Section 47, subsection 1 of the Nigeria Immigration Act 2015.
The Nigerian Navy in January this year arrested the seven Sri Lankans among others for oil theft also known as oil bunkering and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that investigates financial crimes.
