Fela Didn’t Send Me To School – Femi Kuti Reveals Why

• Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti has opened up on the reason why his father Fela Anikulapo, the Afrobeat legend didn’t send him to school.

According to Femi Kuti, his father never sent him to school because he wanted to prove a point that one can equally make it in life even without education.

He stated that Fela had his own mistakes and faults but a great man. He stressed that the refusal of his father to send him to school was a risky decision.

“Yes, Fela was great. But Fela did have faults. But one of the faults is that Fela wanted to use me as an experiment.

His excuse was that I would be successful without going to school. Everybody freaked out including his mother, my mother, and everyone in the family. When I became successful he said to me, ‘Didn’t I tell you?”
