The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, welcomed a courtesy visit from Mr. Femi Odere, the Senior Legislative Aide on Stakeholders’ Engagement and Mobilization to the Senate President, on Tuesday.
During the visit, Odere praised Ms. Garba’s leadership and said her experience with the World Bank makes her the right person to improve basic education in Nigeria.
He added that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is focused on providing quality education for Nigerian children, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“With her background and knowledge, UBEC is in good hands. The Senate President strongly supports better education for our young people, and we believe Ms. Garba will help achieve this goal,” Odere said.
Ms. Garba thanked him for the visit and said she was happy to have met the Senate President since she started her job.
She described him as a leader with a “very pleasant personality” and promised that UBEC will continue to work hard to improve basic education across the country.
The meeting showed the commitment of both the government and lawmakers to ensuring Nigerian children get access to quality education.
