Aero Contractors has received the support of the federal government to start Abuja-Kaduna flights as security concerns continue to mount.
This development appears to be admission, albeit subtle, by the federal government that it can’t solve the insecurity and criminality that ravage the 185km Abuja-Kaduna Road.
Many travellers including federal lawmakers, top government officials and other influential persons have either been kidnapped or killed along the road despite assurances from the government and security agencies.
According to SaharaReporters, Aero Contractors has deployed its Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft and now flies the route four days in a week for prominent people and government officials, who have shunned travelling by road due to potential security threats.
To escape being kidnapped or attacked by robbers, a good number of travellers who ply Kaduna and Abuja have resorted moving by trains.

But following repeated attacks against passengers riding on trains, concerns are raised over the safety of such mode of transportation
You will recall that the inspector General of Police after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 had said “I want to assure Nigerians that Kaduna-Abuja Road is now safe. We have cleared the road, we have arrested a lot of kidnappers and some of them were fatally injured during the confrontation we had with them.
“The road is now cleared for use by travellers and our patrol teams comprising combined security services are there constantly working each day,”
