According to Abdur-Rahman Balogun, spokesperson for the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), he noted that Callistus Elozieuwa, chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Ghana, communicated the rescue details to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, NiDCOM’s chair, during her visit to the victims in Accra.
The rescued individuals are from Kano (47), Katsina (5), Jigawa (2), and Kaduna (4). Some suspects involved in the trafficking have been apprehended and handed over to authorities for profiling and prosecution.

The victims are currently en route back to Nigeria, where they will be profiled and counselled by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), reunited with their families, and rehabilitated by their respective state governments.
Also, eleven more girls who were earlier rescued have also been repatriated to Nigeria. A total of 105 individuals have been rescued in recent months.
Dabiri-Erewa praised NIDO Ghana and Ghanaian law enforcement for their cooperation in the rescue operations.
