Eko Hot Blog reports that the Federal Government (FG) has announced plans to unveil a comprehensive programme aimed at ensuring gender equality and women’s empowerment across the country.
Titled “the Gender Education, Engagement, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Programme” (GEEEEP), the initiative is designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by women and girls in Nigeria.
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Student Engagement, Sunday Asefon, disclosed this in a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday. According to the statement, “GEEEEP is a comprehensive initiative designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by women and girls in Nigeria.”
Asefon emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and creating an enabling environment for women’s empowerment. “GEEEEP represents a significant milestone in our efforts to uplift and empower women and girls. Through education, engagement, empowerment, and entrepreneurship, we are laying the foundation for a more inclusive and prosperous society where every woman and girl can thrive,” he said.
The GEEEEP programme will offer a range of initiatives tailored to the specific needs of women and girls. Asefon elaborated, “GEEEEP will offer a range of initiatives tailored to the specific needs of women and girls, including access to quality education, skills training, mentorship programs, and support for women entrepreneurs.”
Highlighting the programme’s objectives, Asefon stated, “By addressing systemic barriers and providing targeted interventions, the program aims to unlock the full potential of women and girls as drivers of social and economic development.”

As Nigeria strives to empower its women and promote gender equality, the GEEEEP programme is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by women and girls, while providing them with the necessary support and opportunities to thrive.
