The Federal government has moved to make good on its promise to support small businesses cushion the economic implications occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic by offering grants to commercial transport services across the country.
As gathered by Eko Hot Blog, this was contained in a statement by Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, who made the announcement via his verified twitter handle on Sunday evening.
“The Federal Government has commenced N30,000 grants for taxi, bus, okada, Keke Napep, Uber, Bolt drivers and cart pushers across the country, this is in furtherance of its commitment to support small businesses to cushion the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic” Bashir said in a tweet.

Recall that the National Bureau of Statistics had recently announced that Nigeria has entered into its second recession in five years, a reality largely caused by the economic downturn occasioned by the COVID-19 which affected small, medium and even large scale businesses.
The Presidency, however, at this time has opted to assuage the plight of small scale businesses and help cushion the fallout of the recent economic austerity.
