Eko Hot Blog reports that Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, says the Federal Government is fully committed to bolstering healthcare education and providing substantial financial support to tertiary health institutions across Nigeria.
The Director of Information at the Ministry of Health, Patricia Deworitshe, revealed the development in a statement on Sunday.
According to Deworitshe, the minister spoke recently during the minister’s oversight tour and official commissioning of state-of-the-art projects at the Federal College of Dental Technology & Therapy, Enugu.
The health ministry’s spokesperson revealed that Dr. Alausa emphasized the pivotal role of robust health care delivery in the overall well-being of society, outlining the administration’s health-focused agendas, including governance in healthcare, unlocking the value chain of the healthcare sector, health and social security, and ensuring a healthy population.
Commending the collaborative efforts of the institution’s community, the Minister applauded Prof. John Emaimo, the Rector of the College, for remarkable achievements in a short tenure.
His visit included the official commissioning of several projects, including a Two-in-One Lecture room, Biomedical Research Centre, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), Medical Centre Extension, Rector’s Lodge, One Storey Classroom block, and a Lawn Tennis Court, among others.
Prof. Emaimo expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support and highlighted ongoing challenges faced by the institution, urging Dr. Alausa to address their needs for continued progress.
“This commitment to enhanced funding reflects a pivotal step in advancing healthcare education, fostering growth, and addressing crucial challenges faced by tertiary health institutions in Nigeria,” the rector added.
