World’s football governing body, FIFA, has confirmed allocation of over 941,000 tickets to fans across the world for the ongoing Women’s World Cup in France.
According to the body, tickets for 20 matches have been sold out so far, with the semi-finals and final selling out within just 48 hours.
Newly re-elected president, Gianni Infantino, has said FIFA remains confident of eventually selling one million tickets to the showpiece event. He added that they hope to reach a global television audience of one billion people with the tournament, a landmark for the women’s game.
And going by what obtained during the opening match yesterday which saw France defeating South Korea 4-0, those expectations cannot be said to be out of place.
