In spite of the deadly obstacles by way of brutal insurgents attacks on him and his cabinet members, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has implemented his plans of moving 1000 internally displaced persons back to their ancestral home in Baga.
EkoHotBlog had reported how the governor became the target of Boko Haram insurgents repeated attacks while on his way to Baga town to facilitate his resettlement plan.
Over twenty people died in one of the attacks on his convoy.
But the governor remained unfazed by the sinister motives of the insurgents and ensured the resettlement plan of his administration materialised after he moved the IDPs back to their original homes in Baga over the weekend.
Zulum, who personally supervised resettlement of the IDPs, spent two nights in the hitherto trouble town.
He gifted each household with N10,000 each and a bag of rice to start up their lives.
The governor admonished the returnees to be law-abiding and to give support and cooperate with security operatives in other to enjoy protection and safety.
He assured them that the government would not neglect them and would continue to ensure that they are well-protected.
He explained that the N10,000 given to them as well as the bag of rice, maize, beans and 3 litres of oil, were all short term relief to enable them to have an easy start on life”.
