The former Nigerian winger, Finidi, anticipates that their hosts, currently in 16th position on the table with 35 points and feeling the pressure of relegation, will come into the match with confidence. However, he added that Enyimba will be aiming for victory in Akure.

“The team is aware of what is at stake on Sunday. We will approach the match with all seriousness. We want to win it by playing good football,” the former Real Betis star said in a post on Enyimba’s official Instagram page on Thursday.

Sunshine Stars are feeling the sting from their 1-0 loss against Sporting Lagos on Wednesday, where they showcased a commendable performance but were unfortunate to come away empty-handed.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian champions managed to secure a similar victory at home against Heartland in an Oriental derby, propelling the two-time CAF Champions League winners to second place on the table with 51 points. They now sit just three points behind Enugu Rangers, who lead the pack.

Enyimba were 1-0 winners in their last encounter, a match-day 11 fixture held at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, where Chijioke Mbaoma’s late first-half goal proved to be the decisive moment in the game.
