Governor Fintiri had said: “It has become evident that most NGOs are dabbling into politics in the name of providing humanitarian assistance to the people.

“Government can’t fold its arms and watch such so-called NGOs mislead the people and inject divisive tendencies into their psyche.

“In furtherance of our desire to reorder the electoral behaviour of our people and remove the influence of NGOs who have reduced their statutory mandate to that of vote buying machine, government has decided to suspend the activities of local and international NGOs throughout the state until March 15, 2023, when the elections are over.”

Meanwhile, upon lifting the ban, the governor appreciated the NGOs for cooperating with the ban.

Fintiri noted that their support made the conduct of the election be successful.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by Humwashi Wonosikou, spokesperson to the governor.

“The Adamawa State Government has lifted the earlier suspension on the activities of Non-Governmental Organisations in the State which was imposed during the recent election period.

“While lifting the suspension, Governor Fintiri appreciates their cooperatetion which has in no small way contributed to the successful conduct of the elections.
