Fire In Kwara Market Destroys 25 Shops, Millions Lost In Property
At least 25 shops were reportedly destroyed after a fire broke out early Saturday morning in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
The incident, which occurred around 2:39 a.m. near the Adeta roundabout, saw firefighters from the Kwara State Fire Service rushing to the scene to find an entire block of approximately 25 shops engulfed in flames.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the fire service, reported that due to the quick response and efforts of the firefighters, only three shops, including a soft drinks and alcohol shop, sustained significant damage.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that a power surge caused the fire,” he noted in a statement.
Prince John Falade Olumuyiwa, Director of the State Fire Service, sympathized with the affected shop owners, offering prayers for the restoration of their losses.
He urged the public to prioritize fire safety and to unplug all electrical appliances when not in use.
Fire Kwara Shops
This incident follows another major fire barely a week ago, where a blaze tore through Ajah Market near Alesh Bus Stop in the Lekki area of Lagos.
That fire, which began around 9 p.m., destroyed goods worth millions of naira as it quickly spread through shops stocked with flammable materials.
