Eko Hot Blog reports that the middle-aged man was killed after fighting two fire catastrophes in the state’s Bariga and Somolu neighborhoods, according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Adeseye Margaret, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, who corroborated this, said that the incident was initially reported to the agency at 00:31 on Sunday at 19 Apata Street in Shomolu and at 03:19 at 48 Jagunmolu Street in Bariga.
According to reports, the second fire was detected just as the first one’s firefighting was coming to an end.
The Shomolu event involved four rooms and three shops in a bungalow structure with eight rooms and four shops, whereas the Bariga Fire involved ten rooms in a bungalow building with 25 rooms and 18 shops, according to the Director’s statement.
She said, “The Ilupeju and Isolo Fire Crews that both responded to the two separate emergencies met them well alight and lamented delayed calls as Fire had wrecked havoc before they were alerted to salvage the situations.
“The preliminary investigation revealed negligence as the undercurrent causes of both Fires which led to electrical upsurge as reported shock was witnessed at Shomolu before the arrival of the Firefighters.
“It was, however, unfortunate that a male adult of about 50 years of age was recovered and handed over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit at Bariga while that of Somolu does not involved any loss of life or injury.”
