Residents of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa States capital were greeted with anxiety following the razing of the State-owned radio station on Tuesday morning.
The fire, which started on Tuesday morning at about 7:30 am destroyed a critical section Bayelsa Radio, which is located along Azikoro Road in the state capital.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner for Information in the state, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said nobody was injured neither was any life lost in the inferno.
According to him, the state government will probe the cause of the outbreak to avoid a reoccurrence.
He explained that his ministry will work out modalities to ensure the resumption of full broadcasting to the delight of its audience.
As at the time of filing this report, men of the Bayelsa State Fire Service were seen battling to put out the fire.
The inferno however destroyed some facilities in the live studio, links room, ICT unit, recording studios, and the presenter’s office.
