EKO HOT BLOG reports that a petroleum-laden tanker caught fire at Iyana Ajia, in the Egbeda Local Government Area of Ibadan, on Saturday afternoon.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident and stated that some people sustained minor injuries.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, Akinyinka said, “On September 7, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., a devastating fire broke out in a petroleum truck. The fire severely damaged the truck’s pump, displaced several families, and caused significant property damage.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by residents attempting to exploit a fuel leak.
The damage report includes four vehicles destroyed: one petroleum truck, one 18-passenger bus, a small truck, and a Micra car.
