First Lady Welcomes Abuja’s First Baby of 2025

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, marked the arrival of 2025 by welcoming Abuja’s first baby of the year at the Asokoro District Hospital.

The newborn, a baby girl named Favour Stephen-Odion, was delivered at 12:27 a.m. on January 1, weighing 3.6kg. Proud parents Mr. Odion Oyinbo and Mrs. Chioma Odion expressed their joy at the special recognition.

Sen. Tinubu, represented by the wife of the Vice-President, Mrs. Nana Shettima, also welcomed the first baby boy of the year, Zimchikachim Ejiofor. He was born at 7:14 a.m. to Mr. Ejiofor Nworie and Mrs. Delight, weighing 3kg.

The First Lady presented gifts to the families, including post-natal care products, nutritional supplies, and cash. She prayed for the health, prosperity, and bright future of the newborns, describing them as the “next generation to take over from us.”

“I wish her long life, prosperity, and good health. Insha Allah, they will grow to become great leaders of tomorrow,” said the First Lady’s representative while encouraging the mothers on exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, and post-natal care.

Birth certificates were also presented to both Favour and Zimchikachim, with the First Lady touring the maternity ward to extend congratulations to other parents of newborns.

Dr. Rosemary Nwokorie, acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, commended the First Lady and the Tinubu administration for their commitment to improving healthcare, particularly through the Renewed Hope Initiative, which supports vulnerable groups.

The event not only celebrated new life but also underscored the government’s dedication to women and children’s welfare, leaving families optimistic about the future.
