No fewer than five officers were said to have been killed when Gunmen attacked Iwollo police division in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu state on Tuesday.
The police station was reportedly razed by the gunmen during the onslaught that took place in the early hours of Tuesday.
The gunmen were said to have attacked the division in overwhelming numbers and overpowered the officers who confronted them.
Mohammed Aliyu, the state commissioner of police, who confirmed the attack, said it was not clear yet how many casualties were suffered and the level of destruction done.
“More information will be pushed out to the public as soon as we conclude our preliminary investigation,’’ he said.

This is the latest attack in a series of attacks on police officers and security facilities in the south-east.
Other agencies, such as INEC offices, have also been torched.
On April 21, gunmen shot two police operatives dead during an attack on Adani station in Uzo-Uwani LGA of the state.
The gunmen reportedly attacked the station around 2:30am also set it ablaze.
