“It’s sad to see people sharing inciting content against tribes. We have been living together in unity, doing business together, and marrying ourselves. Do not let people, because of their own interests, cause hate among us. Let’s say No To Tribal Warfare! Let us Preach Peace,” he tweeted.

The social critic’s statement comes as political tensions are on the rise in Lagos ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, March 11.

Lagos is Nigeria’s largest city and one of the country’s most ethnically diverse regions.

Mr Macaroni’s call for peace and unity among the people of Lagos has been widely praised by Nigerians on social media, with many commending him for using his platform to promote peaceful coexistence.

In recent years, Nigeria has experienced an uptick in ethnic tensions, fueled in part by a rise in divisive political rhetoric and the activities of separatist groups in some regions of the country.
