Several human bodies have been discovered dead from Laminga dam, after drowning, days after looting property from former House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s house in Jos, Plateau state capital.
The authority of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) as well as local sources have confirmed the discovery of the bodies.
The Jos House of former speaker was burgled by mob action who carted away valuables.
According a source who pleaded anonymity, eight people died while another source said only six bodies were discovered.
“On Wednesday, I was at JUTH for medication, and saw dead bodies of six people that were drown in the Laminga dam brought to the hospital,” the source said.
Another source, Mr. Joseph Nyam, said those who were trapped in the dam, “were running away, trying to escape from policemen on the day Yakubu Dogara’s house was looted.”
However, the JUTH, acting head of public relations, Mrs. Omini Bridget, confirmed that only four were taken to the hospital.
She said, “It is true that four corpses were brought to the hospital.”
