The Director of Finance, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Mr. Tony Okecheme, was on Friday, swept away by a heavy flood at Galadimawa roundabout in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abuja.
According to an eyewitness the victim was on his way to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport when his car got stuck in the torrential rain.
It was learnt further that officials of National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA ), who rushed to the scene could not save the late director as he had been trapped in the food alongside his driver for more than one hour.
He was, however, swept away by the raging flood, while his driver, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, was rescued by some young boys in the area and taken to Asokoro hospital.
The car which was filled with mud and water was, however, pulled out of the ravines by the rescuers.
