At least two people have lost their lives due to floods that swept through parts of Ibadan on Tuesday EKO HOT BLOG reports.
Heavy flooding on Wednesday impacted areas in Oluyole and Ibadan South West local government regions, causing the destruction of properties valued in the millions of naira.
In a statement made available, NEMA South West Zonal Coordinator, Olanrewaju Kadiri, confirmed: “After the heavy downpour that triggered a flash flood in Ibadan South-West and Oluyole local government areas of Oyo State on 24th September 2024, NEMA South West, in partnership with Oyo SEMA and the Nigeria Red Cross Society, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the affected communities.
“The flooding destroyed residential buildings, shops, and other properties worth millions, displacing numerous residents. Sadly, two fatalities have been confirmed, and two individuals remain missing.”
