EKO HOT BLOG reports that Egypt started the game on the front foot and took a swift lead just three minutes into the match. Osama Omar latched onto a well-placed cut-back from Mahmoud Labib to beat Nigeria’s goalkeeper from close range.
But the Flying Eagles quickly settled and dominated much of the first half. Clinton Jephta and Precious Benjamin forced strong saves from Egypt’s keeper, Abdel Monem Tamer, while Israel Ayuma tested the hosts with several powerful long-range strikes.
Nigeria eventually found the breakthrough in the 47th minute when Divine Oliseh delivered a brilliant through ball that split the Egyptian defence. Bidemi Amole finished with composure to level the score early in the second half.
Seeking a winner, Coach Ladan Bosso introduced fresh legs including Tahir Maigana and Kparobo Arierhi. Egypt, however, came dangerously close in the closing stages, hitting the woodwork twice through Mohamed El Sayed and Mohamed Haitham.
