- Nationwide protest over hike in food prices coming – Primate Ayodele warns
- Primate Ayodele said the masses, the youths, women, men, and children will be part of the nationwide protest.
Ekohotblog reports that Nigerian cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday about the present economic situation, which has resulted in a rise in the cost of basic commodities.
Primate Ayodele has warned of a countrywide protest in response to the rise in food prices, which has touched every Nigerian.
The clergyman stated in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, that until the Federal Government offers a solution to the ongoing economic problem, the protest will be harsh.
Primate Ayodele said the masses, the youths, women, men, and children will be part of the nationwide protest.
According to the clergyman, the hardship already being experienced will not be subsided, and unless the government does the needful, it would lead to a serious issue in the country.
He urged President Buhari to look into it as soon as possible to avert the impediment.
‘’Nigerians will protest because of the hike in food prices. There will be so much hardship which will cause the government the unexpected. The president must see into food matters otherwise Nigeria will go up in flames as a result of this.
‘’The price of things will keep increasing. Essential commodities like pepper, palm oil, and gas will keep increasing and these are what the average Nigerian use on a daily basis,” he said.
‘’The government must do something to avert this coming protest, it will involve the youths, old men and women, it will be very serious. The government needs to look into it as soon as possible.’’
