A former Head of Service in Bauchi State has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged attempt to buy votes at one of the polling units of the bye-election for Dass Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The suspect, Abdon Dalla Gin, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on Civil Service and Labour Matters, was arrested after EFCC operatives found ₦1.5 million his car booth.
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi, Lawal Jimeta, confirmed the arrest saying, “I am not privy to the statement he has written but in order to make sure that the voting process continues, especially at the voting centre where he was arrested, he was released on bail after fulfilling the conditions of the EFCC.”

According to him, the EFCC operatives did not hand over the government official to the police, explaining that it was their duty to prosecute the case since they made the arrest.
While briefing the journalists, Chairman of Dass Local Government, Suleiman Mohammed said that Dalla was arrested wrongly.
“I was told that one of our stakeholders was arrested and I come to sympathise with him – which is normal. Though I have not discussed with him but I heard that shortly after he addressed some journalists, he was arrested.
“The money is not his own, the money belongs to our party agents, presiding and returning officers,” he said.
