EKO HOT BLOG reports on a devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday, leaving over 1000 people dead and the death toll is expected to rise to 10,000.
The earthquake, which consisted of two major tremors, first a 7.8 magnitude and second a 7.5 magnitude, hit the region of Kahramanmara, where the Turkish club Hatayspor is based.
Former Chelsea winger, Christian Atsu, who currently plays for Hatayspor, is among those reported to be trapped under rubble. The club’s sporting director, Taner Savut, is also said to be trapped.
