The earthquake, which consisted of two major tremors, first a 7.8 magnitude and second a 7.5 magnitude, hit the region of Kahramanmara, where the Turkish club Hatayspor is based.
Former Chelsea winger, Christian Atsu, who currently plays for Hatayspor, is among those reported to be trapped under rubble. The club’s sporting director, Taner Savut, is also said to be trapped.
