- Leadership choice favors Atiku over Wike
- Friendship is different from leadership decisions
- Political disagreements are about principle, not personal rifts
Former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has declared that he would support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, if faced with a choice for national leadership.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tambuwal emphasized that he bases his political decisions on principles and not on personal relationships.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Tambuwal clarified that his disagreements with politicians, past and present, have never been personal. He cited his political differences with former President Goodluck Jonathan as being strictly about policy direction.

The former governor stressed that his cordial relationships with leaders from across party lines have continued despite any political rifts.

To illustrate his point, Tambuwal made a distinction between friendship and political collaboration. He stated that while he would personally give Wike his phone if asked, he would still choose Atiku when it comes to the nation’s leadership.
He also noted that his approach to politics has always been “altruistic and nothing personal,” and he believes that both Atiku and Wike understand this.
He concluded by reiterating his belief that Nigeria’s leadership choices should always be guided by vision and a clear sense of direction.
