EKO HOT BLOG reports that a former lecturer at the Lagos State University of Technology (LASPOTECH) has been arrested and remanded in custody over allegations of defiling his 10-year-old daughter.
The lecturer, whose name has been withheld, is accused of having sexual relations with the minor since 2018.
The arrest was made following a tip-off from a Mandated Reporter to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA). The agency stated that the lecturer was taken into custody on charges of defilement and sexual assault by penetration.
The mother of the survivor claimed that her husband stopped being intimate with her in 2018 and that whenever she tried to address the issue, it resulted in physical abuse. The latest incident of abuse reportedly took place on December 30, 2022.
The lecturer was arraigned before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi, who did not take his plea and ordered his remand in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned until March 6, 2023, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
