Former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu Suspended From PDP

  • The communique listed the allegations as “Causing disaffection within the party hierarchy even after several peace efforts.

Babangida Aliyu, the former governor of Niger State, has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party in the state’s Chanchaga Local Government Region.

According to a communique released at the end of stakeholders meeting in Minna, the decision was taken as a result of six serious allegations that the party in his LGA found troubling and considered to be harmful to the party’s development.

Niger, Ex-Gov Babangida Aliyu

“Serious and verifiable reports of anti-party activity have been making the rounds since 2014, resulting in the party’s loss of control at the federal and state levels. Disobedience to then-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and working against his election victory in 2015 are examples of this.

“In 2015, he funded the opposition APC (All Progressives Congress) with N450 million in order to overthrow his own party for personal and selfish purposes.

“Refusal to participate and attend party activities.

“Undermining and working against the resolutions of party organs, especially the state caucus.

“Causing discord, which has resulted in an inability to settle issues concerning the state legal advisor job, which has been vacant in his own local government area since 2015.”

Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu was suspended from the PDP in the Chanchaga LGA as a result of this and other factors.

Eight of the party’s ward chairmen out of ten in the LGA, as well as elders and party faithful from the LGA, attended the meeting.
