Former NLC President Takai Shamang has been kidnapped from his home in Kaduna State, with authorities working to secure his release.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Takai Shamang has reportedly been kidnapped.
Shamang, who also served as the President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers (now the National Union of Electricity Employees) from 1982 to 1989, was abducted from his hometown, Biniki, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The 78-year-old, also the President and Founder of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans, and Needy Foundation (GAWON Foundation), was taken from his home around 8:00 pm on Friday.
His daughter, Grace Abbin, confirmed the incident, stating that the assailants broke into his residence and took him by force.
Authorities in Kaduna State are investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to secure his release.
“The community and family members are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in his safe return,” she told Daily Trust, adding that the family, friends, and well-wishers of Comrade Shamang remain hopeful for a positive resolution and his safe return home.
Former NLC President
Comrade Shamang, known for his extensive philanthropic work and dedication to the Labour Congress, is said to be a well-respected figure in the community.
However, the Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
