Ex-interim Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Jethro Akun has died aged 76.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the elder statesman who just clocked 76 years died on Thursday morning after a brief illness.

The 76-year-old before his death was an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) awardee.

He served as Commissioner in Ministries of Information and Communication, as well as Youths and Sports.

Akun, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairman, was appointed as Deputy Governor to Acting Governor Michael Botmang after Joshua Dariye was impeached in November 2006.

Governor Simon Lalong has condoled with the family.

Lalong prayed that God rests Akun’s soul and comfort those who mourn him.

Plateau Speaker, Abok Ayuba, said the deceased exhibited diligence, honesty, and patriotism during his lifetime.

The lawmaker added that they would miss Akun’s contribution to Plateau and Nigeria’s development.
